Citrus and Lecanto are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. The Citrus Hurricanes will take on the Lecanto Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Citrus has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Citrus had taken South Sumter down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. Citrus fell 11-8 to South Sumter. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Makayla Hetman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Leone Rotondo, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Hetman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Citrus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Lecanto unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against The Villages Charter, falling 9-1.

Lecanto saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shawna Griffin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Citrus' record is now 5-4. As for Lecanto, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Citrus couldn't quite get it done against Lecanto in their previous meeting last Tuesday as they fell 6-1. Can Citrus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
