Basketball Game Preview: Irving Tigers vs. Richardson Eagles

Irving is 0-8 against Richardson since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Irving Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Richardson Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 84-40, which was the final score in Irving's tilt against Dallas Jesuit on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 786th, while the Rangers are ranked 73rd).

Meanwhile, Richardson suffered their closest defeat since February 20, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Berkner by a score of 57-54. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rams 12-7 in the first quarter.

This is the second loss in a row for Irving and nudges their season record down to 10-14. As for Richardson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-8 record this season.
