Basketball Recap: Newberry Piles Up the Points Against Santa Fe

There's no place like home for Newberry, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 62-12 win over the Santa Fe Raiders. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Newberry was led to victory by Brandy Whitfield and Sarah Beaulieu. Whitfield went 9 of 12 on her way to 19 points along with five assists and four steals, while Beaulieu went 7 for 10 en route to 17 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Whitfield's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Brown, who posted eight points.

Newberry is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Santa Fe, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Newberry and Fort White will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Santa Fe, they will take on Fleming Island in a tournament on Thursday.
