Fredericksburg is a perfect 10-0 against Canyon Lake since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Billies will venture away from home to square off against Canyon Lake at 7:00 p.m. Fredericksburg will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Fredericksburg had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Wimberley on Friday. The Billies were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Texans. The result was nothing new for the Billies, who have now won ten matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Makenna Duecker spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Fredericksburg got a massive performance out of Larryn Feuge, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sydney Meyer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Fredericksburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Canyon Lake was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against Davenport, falling 12-2. Canyon Lake hasn't had much luck with Davenport recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Canyon Lake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marley Christian, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Fredericksburg's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
Both Fredericksburg and Canyon Lake just can't seem to miss. The Billies have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Canyon Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fredericksburg took their victory against Canyon Lake when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 13-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Billies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
