Baseball Recap: Cherryville Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Cherryville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Kings Mountain Mountaineers a 3-0 shutout on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Ironmen as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Parker Anderson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

Anderson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Withers, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Cherryville's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Kings Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Cherryville will head out to challenge Shelby at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherryville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Kings Mountain, they will be playing at home against Ashbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Kings Mountain's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
