Basketball Recap: Hiawatha Takes a Loss

Hiawatha was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 58-26 loss at the hands of the Indian Creek Timberwolves. The Hawks lost against the Timberwolves in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 44-38 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Indian Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isabella Turner, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Turner has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bethany Odle, who posted 15 points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Hiawatha's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Indian Creek, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Durand the next time they take the court. Hiawatha will host Durand at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Indian Creek will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
