Baseball Recap: Eaglecrest Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cherry Creek, Eaglecrest was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Denver East Angels by a score of 7-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raptors also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Brian Moreland made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tavish Dey was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Eaglecrest's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Braden Elliott was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Eaglecrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Eaglecrest pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Denver East, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Eaglecrest will head out to challenge Cherry Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Denver East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northfield at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Nighthawks will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Angels surely won't give up without a fight.
