Recap: Washburn Millers vs. Richfield Spartans
The Washburn Millers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 77-57 walloping at the hands of Richfield. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (55), Washburn still had to take the loss.
Richfield was led to victory by Desirai Chappell and Aniiya Johnson. Chappell scored 25 points along with 8 rebounds, while Johnson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds. The contest was Chappell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zarihana Rennie, who scored 6 points along with 13 rebounds and 4 steals.
Washburn now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Richfield, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washburn will take on Apple Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Richfield, they will head out on the road to face off against DeLaSalle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. DeLaSalle has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 260 points over their last four matchups.
