Softball Recap: Mount Airy Comes Up Short

Mount Airy couldn't beat Alleghany on Friday even though they stacked eight runs on them in the fourth inning. The Granite Bears fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 9-8. The Granite Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 13-3.

Greer Tidd and Bristol Sawyers stepped up to the plate in a big way. Tidd went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Sawyers went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Ella Brintle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Mount Airy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Alleghany, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-18.

Mount Airy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-1 loss against North Stokes on the 28th. As for Alleghany, they have also already played their next game, a 14-2 defeat against South Stokes on the 28th.
