Baseball Recap: Lampasas Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lampasas can now relate to. They fell just short of the Gatesville Hornets by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Badgers in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost seven in a row.

Calvin Phelps was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Peyton Sisson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Lampasas' loss dropped their record down to 19-6-2. As for Gatesville, their victory bumped their record up to 14-11-1.

While Lampasas had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
