Basketball Recap: Wink Takes a Loss

Wink lost against Midland Christian back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wink Wildcats were dealt a 72-26 defeat at the hands of the Midland Christian Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 808th, while the Mustangs are ranked 180th).

Despite the loss, Wink saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Adelynn Thompson went 6 for 13 on her way to 18 points.

Wink has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Midland Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wink will host Buena Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Midland Christian, they will welcome Andrews at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Andrews will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Midland Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
