Basketball Game Preview: Minneola Wildcats vs. Pawnee Heights Tigers

Minneola is 8-2 against Pawnee Heights since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats challenge the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Minneola has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Minneola took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They had just enough and edged Moscow out 57-55.

Braegen Shelor had a dynamite game for Minneola, going 10 of 19 on her way to 26 points and eight rebounds. What's more, Shelor also posted a 53% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maiya Granados, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Pawnee Heights hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They took down Deerfield 44-30 on Tuesday.

Minneola's record is now 5-11. As for Pawnee Heights, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-14.

Things could have been worse for Minneola, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-24 loss to Pawnee Heights in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Minneola avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
