Basketball Recap: Pike Central Comes Up Short

Pike Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 61-40 to the North Posey Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while the Vikings are ranked 163rd).

Despite the loss, Pike Central still got an impressive performance from Nate Davis, who posted 17 points and five rebounds. Lane Frederick was another key player, going 5 for 11 en route to 12 points.

North Posey's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Mansfield led the charge by putting up 17 points. Mansfield continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Cullman, who earned 13 points.

Pike Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for North Posey, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Pike Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-43 loss against Evansville Mater Dei on the 8th. As for North Posey, they will venture away from home to take on Mt. Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
