Soccer Recap: Garner Takes a Loss

Garner managed to keep up with Fuquay - Varina until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Trojans lost 6-2 to the Bengals. While losing is never fun, Garner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Fuquay - Varina are ranked 114th).

Lily Ridge wasn't going to let Fuquay - Varina walk away unscathed as she scored both of Garner's goals, bringing her season total up to 21 goals.

Garner's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Fuquay - Varina, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Garner is set to challenge their familiar foe Cleveland at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Fuquay - Varina will face off against rival Clayton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
