The Franklin Panthers will challenge the Canton Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Franklin lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Milford, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Panthers beat the Scarlet Hawks on Wednesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Canton got the win against Stoughton on Wednesday by a conclusive 7-1. Considering the Bulldogs have won four games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kyle Redquest made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Canton is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4-1 otherwise. Redquest was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Canton got a great performance from Chris Pirrera as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Pirrera also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Bulldogs are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4-1 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Teddy Shuman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JT Norton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Canton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Franklin, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Franklin took their victory against Canton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
