Football Game Preview: LaVille Lancers vs. Whiting Oilers

LaVille has gone a perfect 3-0 against Whiting recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lancers will welcome the Oilers at 6:30 p.m. LaVille will be strutting in after a win while Whiting will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, LaVille needed a bit of extra time to put away Jimtown. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 28-27 victory over the Jimmies. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted since September 13, 2024.

Cole Stafford continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 91 yards and three scores, while also picking up 72 receiving yards. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024. Brayden Schwitz was another key player, throwing for 181 yards and one touchdown while completing 81% of his passes.

Meanwhile, Whiting was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 52-0 defeat at the hands of Wheeler. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Oilers were not able to get on the board.

The victory got LaVille back to even at 4-4. As for Whiting, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything came up roses for LaVille against Whiting in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-20 win. In that contest, the Lancers amassed a halftime lead of 42-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
