Softball Recap: Norwell Extends Winning Streak to Three

Norwell extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 6-1 in the process. They blew past the Marion Giants 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kara Brown was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Reese Frauhiger was a standout: she got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Leah Werling also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Norwell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

As for Marion, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.

On Marion's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aly Earnest, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Norwell has already played their next contest, an 11-4 defeat against Homestead on the 25th. As for Marion, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-0 victory against Muncie Central on the 26th.
