Softball Recap: Tucumcari's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Tucumcari was forced to take a big loss against they on Monday, they got the better of them on Monday. They blew past the Santa Rosa Lions 34-21. This was a revenge game for the Rattlers: when they faced off against the Lions on Monday, they had to take a 22-12 defeat.

Maaja Anaya and Caylee Benavidez did most of the damage at the plate: Anaya got on base in all seven of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, six runs, and five RBI, while Benavidez got on base in five of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, seven RBI, and four runs. Those six runs gave Anaya a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of July Lafferty, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and one double.

Tucumcari kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Tucumcari's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Santa Rosa, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tucumcari is set to challenge their familiar foe Estancia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Santa Rosa will face off against rival Pecos at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
