The Shadow Mountain Matadors will square off against the Goldwater Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shadow Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Shadow Mountain turned things around against Dysart on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 23-6 margin over the Demons. The high-scoring effort was just what the Matadors needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Casey Evans was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Evans was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Maroulis, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Hannah Sheehan was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Shadow Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .769. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Goldwater was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 11-0 to Arcadia.
Shadow Mountain's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Goldwater, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Shadow Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .609. However, it's not like Goldwater struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
