Basketball Recap: John Paul II Catholic Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, John Paul II Catholic couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Asheville School (Independent) Blues on Saturday.

Ryann Hernandez was her usual excellent self, going 8-for-16 to rack up 24 points in addition to seven boards and six steals for Asheville School (Independent). Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Maya Robinson was another key player, going 6-for-12 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

John Paul II Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 24-4. As for Asheville School (Independent), their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-4.

John Paul II Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Asheville School (Independent), they are taking a road trip to take on Grace Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Christian will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Asheville School (Independent) surely won't give up without a fight.
