Softball Recap: East Columbus Extends Winning Streak to Nine

East Columbus entered their tilt with Purnell Swett on Saturday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Rams. Considering the Gators have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Aleigh Godwin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Skylah Collins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

East Columbus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in 11 consecutive matchups.

East Columbus' win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Purnell Swett, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Coming up, East Columbus will be taking part in a tournament against Fairmont at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Purnell Swett does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
