Basketball Recap: Teague Takes a Loss

Teague played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Mexia Black Cats and fell 69-41. The Lions lost against the Black Cats in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 95-42 score last time.

Despite the loss, Teague still got an impressive performance from Brayden Leija, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Leija a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Clifford Coleman, who posted 16 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Teague smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of 11 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

This is the second loss in a row for Teague and nudges their season record down to 4-11. As for Mexia, they pushed their record up to 14-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Teague will host Elkhart at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mexia, they will head out to square off against Buffalo at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
