Baseball Recap: Portsmouth Gets the Win

Portsmouth's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees 9-8. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jacob Roth made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Nik Copley was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was J.T. Williams, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Portsmouth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Portsmouth back to even at 2-2. As for Bethlehem, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-5.

Portsmouth has already played their next match, a 4-1 loss against Fairview on the 2nd. As for Bethlehem, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 win against Russell on the 3rd.
