Preview: Raceland Rams vs. Russell Red Devils
Raceland has enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Russell Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Raceland was handed a three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lewis County on January 2nd. Raceland blew past Lewis County 55-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Raceland has posted since December 9, 2023.
Meanwhile, Russell waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 69-56 victory over South Laurel.
Russell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shaelyn Steele, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds. Steele has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 16 times she's played. Gabby Oborne was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Raceland's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Russell, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Raceland might still be hurting after the 60-36 defeat they got from Russell when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Raceland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
