Volleyball Recap: Santa Rita Comes Up Short

Santa Rita was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Tombstone Yellow Jackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-6, 25-7.

Tombstone can attribute much of their success to Isabella Lopez, who had ten aces. Those ten aces gave Lopez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilleigh Presti, who had five assists and four aces.

Santa Rita's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Tombstone, their win ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 10-8.

Santa Rita didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Bisbee on the 22nd. As for Tombstone, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Andrada Polytechnic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
