Westfield extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 15-8 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Hamilton Southeastern Royals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Shamrocks have posted since May 27, 2024.
Ian Wilson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Luke Collinsworth looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Law, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Lindsey, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
As for Hamilton Southeastern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-16. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs.
On Hamilton Southeastern's side, Jackson Bixler was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Cy Cole was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.
Westfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hamilton Southeastern: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
