Baseball Game Preview: Collinsville Panthers vs. North Sand Mountain Bison

The Collinsville Panthers will square off against the North Sand Mountain Bison at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Collinsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Collinsville will bounce into Monday's game after beating Fyffe, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers came out on top against the Red Devils by a score of 8-3 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Zach Clanton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Lang, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Jake Middlebrooks was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, North Sand Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Pell City.

Mikey Poss made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Collinsville's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for North Sand Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.

Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Collinsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like North Sand Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
