Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Comes Up Short

Cornerstone Charter lost against College Prep & Leadership Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cornerstone Charter Cardinals took a blow against the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals, falling 73-32. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Royals are ranked 118th).

Lake Bristol was Cornerstone Charter's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Tyler Smith held things down on the boards with nine rebounds. Charles Walker took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Cornerstone Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Charter will host Winston-Salem Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cornerstone Charter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Phoenix Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
