Basketball Game Preview: Newtown Pioneers vs. Townsend Harris Hawks

The Newtown Pioneers will challenge the Townsend Harris Hawks at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Newtown earned a 44-37 victory over Jamaica. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pioneers.

Meanwhile, Townsend Harris put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Campus Magnet, posting a 60-32 win. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Townsend Harris pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Newtown, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Newtown suffered a grim 58-32 defeat to Townsend Harris in their previous meeting back in January of 2017. Can Newtown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
