Laconia hasn't had much luck against Hanover recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Sachems will venture away from home to face off against the Bears at 4:30 p.m.
Laconia is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Hollis-Brookline, falling 10-3.
Laconia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Dee, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was Dee's first of the season. Another was Carter Jones, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Hanover's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Pembroke on Tuesday. The Bears' pitcher stepped up to hand Merrimack Valley a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Bears have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Wyatt Daigle made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jorgen Drent was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Hayden Avard was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Hanover has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Laconia, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Laconia suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Hanover when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Sachems avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
