Baseball Game Preview: Grandview Bulldogs vs. Ruskin Golden Eagles

Grandview has gone a perfect 3-0 against Ruskin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bulldogs will host the Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Grandview's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Ruskin has been banged up by 20 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Grandview took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Winnetonka, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs won by a run and slipped past the Griffins 5-4.

Ethan Terry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Jayveon Jacobs and Tyler Ransom did most of the damage at the plate: Jacobs went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Ransom went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits Ransom has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Ransom, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Harrisonville hit Ruskin with a six-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Golden Eagles lost 12-2 to the Wildcats.

Ruskin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myles Duncan, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Grandview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Ruskin, their loss dropped their record down to 0-20.

Everything went Grandview's way against Ruskin when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Grandview made off with a 16-6 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
