Logan hasn't had much luck against Mingo Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will challenge the Miners at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Logan has six wins , while Mingo Central has seven dating back to last season).
Logan's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Scott to the tune of 35-0. Considering the Wildcats have won four contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The critical scores for Logan came from Luvante Kenney, Caden Justice, Bentley Williamson, Lucas Lambert, and Braydon Craddock.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Logan, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kenney, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Logan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Williamson picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Mingo Central and Scott meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again last Friday. The Miners took down the Skyhawks 19-0. Those 19 points were actually the fewest the Miners have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
A big part of Mingo Central's win came down to the chemistry between Jamere Knuckles and his top target Keziah Joplin. Knuckles threw for 179 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes while Joplin picked up 65 receiving yards and one score. Joplin's longest reception was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.
One reason for the win was Mingo Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They received some extra help from Jacob Maynard, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Logan's record now sits at 6-0. As for Mingo Central, their record is now an identical 6-0.
Logan might still be hurting after the 32-7 defeat they got from Mingo Central in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
