Softball Recap: Thayer Takes Down Ranked Ava

Thayer faced Ava in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bobcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bears, sneaking past 4-2. The win was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on five straight.

McKenzie Morris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

Morris wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hattie Haynes, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Thayer's victory bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Ava, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-8.

As of now, neither Thayer nor the Bears have any future games scheduled.
