Recap: Yucaipa Thunderbirds vs. Citrus Valley Blackhawks
The Yucaipa Thunderbirds lost to the Citrus Valley Blackhawks back in January of 2023, but the Yucaipa Thunderbirds didn't allow the Citrus Valley Blackhawks the same satisfaction on Wednesday. Yucaipa walked away with a 62-49 win over Citrus Valley.
Yucaipa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonathan Campbell out in front who scored 19 points. Campbell continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Tristan Doty was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Yucaipa's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 10-13. As for Citrus Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yucaipa will take on Beaumont at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Beaumont presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Yucaipa in California (Beaumont is ranked 172nd, while Yucaipa is ranked 679th). As for Citrus Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Redlands at 6:30 p.m. Redlands is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
