Lakeland Christian proved they can win big  last Tuesday (they won by ten) and  on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a  run and slipped past the McKeel Academy Wildcats  5-4. The  win was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won four  matches in a row.
 Peyton Rutledge looked comfortable as he  pitched 1.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in nine consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Mookie Rodriguez, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Lakeland Christian  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in four consecutive  games.
Lakeland Christian's record now sits at 18-6. As for McKeel Academy,  the  defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games  and leaves them with a 16-7 record.
 Looking ahead, Lakeland Christian will look to defend their home field  on Tuesday against Frostproof  at 7:00  p.m. McKeel Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
