Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Lions vs. Fayette County Tigers

Trinity Christian is 0-6 against Fayette County since December of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Trinity Christian Lions will get right back to it and host the Fayette County Tigers at 1:30 p.m.

Trinity Christian is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Friday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-50 heartbreaker at the hands of Mary Persons.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fayette County). They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Druid Hills 83-31. With the Tigers ahead 55-9 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Trinity Christian better focus on containing Aden Saunders and Jaren Blankenship as the pair were huge in Fayette County's win. Saunders posted 23 points in addition to six steals and five assists, while Blankenship went 9 for 15 on his way to 23 points and three steals. Those 23 points gave Saunders a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Rutley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Trinity Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Fayette County, they moved to 6-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Trinity Christian came up short against Fayette County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 61-48. Can Trinity Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
