Softball Recap: Dreher Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dreher). Everything went their way against the South Pointe Stallions on Thursday as Dreher made off with a 25-17 victory. With that win, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 11 runs per game.

Rory McCormack was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring six runs and stealing a base while getting on base in six of her eight plate appearances. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game.

In other batting news, Jameelah Warren was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with six RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Tatiyana Murry was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four runs and four RBI.

Dreher hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Pointe struck out 17 times.

Dreher's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for South Pointe, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Dreher will venture away from home to face off against North Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for South Pointe, they will host Camden at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
