Basketball Game Preview: Deering Rams vs. Marshwood Hawks

The Deering Rams will head out to square off against the Marshwood Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Deering has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with eight straight defeats, while Marshwood will come in with six straight wins.

Deering came up short against Cheverus on Monday, falling 48-25. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Stags are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, Marshwood had just enough and edged Biddeford out 53-50 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted against the Tigers since December 12, 2017.

Deering's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Marshwood, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Things could have been worse for Deering, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-41 loss to Marshwood in their previous meeting on January 4th. Can Deering avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
