Baseball Game Preview: Fairborn Skyhawks vs. Sidney Yellowjackets

Fairborn hasn't had much luck against Sidney recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Skyhawks will face off against the Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. Sidney took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Fairborn, who comes in off a win.

Fairborn will bounce into Friday's game after beating Piqua, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Skyhawks blew past the Indians 9-2 on Wednesday. The Skyhawks not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 11-4).

Meanwhile, Sidney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 8-2 to Tippecanoe.

Elijah Cotterman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sidney saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Knott, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Fairborn's victory bumped their record up to 6-10-1. As for Sidney, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Fairborn suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Sidney when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Skyhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
