Recap: Purvis Tornadoes vs. Columbia Wildcats
The Purvis Tornadoes lost against the Columbia Wildcats two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Purvis was outmatched by Columbia on the road and fell 68-30. Purvis has struggled against Columbia recently, as their match on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Purvis lost, one person who can't be blamed is Systren Eliza Elenus. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Eliza Elenus has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played.
Columbia was led to victory by Jakira Brown and Payshunce Sims. Brown scored 17 points, while Sims scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Expose, who scored seven points.
Purvis has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Columbia, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
Purvis will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Forrest County Agricultural at 4:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Purvis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Tuesday. Columbia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
