Basketball Recap: Gillespie Comes Up Short

Gillespie was the 50-46 winner over Staunton when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Gillespie Miners fell 42-32 to the Staunton Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Gillespie's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 15-7. As for Staunton, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gillespie will venture away from home to face off against New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Staunton, they will head out on the road to take on Carlinville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
