Baseball Recap: Floyd Central Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Floyd Central extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 17-12 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against the Estill County Engineers. Floyd Central's victory was all the more impressive since the Engineers were averaging only 3.91 runs allowed on the season.

Barrett Williams was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brance Pennington, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Floyd Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

As for Estill County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this matchup were averaging 3.91 runs allowed.

On Estill County's side, Hayden Woolery and Dawson Moore did some serious damage despite the final result: Woolery went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Moore went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Friend, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Floyd Central will head out to square off against Shelby Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Estill County, they will venture away from home to challenge Fleming County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
