Softball Recap: Valley Mills Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Valley Mills couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Honey Grove Warriors by a score of 7-6 on Thursday. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Lacee Engelbrecht and Brinley Siems did some serious damage despite the final result: Engelbrecht went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Siems went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Engelbrecht has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Busch, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Valley Mills' defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Honey Grove, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-5-3 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Valley Mills beat Honey Grove by a score of 18-10 on Friday.
