Basketball Recap: Sonoraville Comes Up Short

Sonoraville lost against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sonoraville Phoenix fell 71-60 to the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while the Warriors are ranked 133rd).

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Darian Keefe out in front who went 5 of 11 on his way to 17 points along with seven boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Sonoraville is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Sonoraville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-54 defeat against North Murray on the 14th. Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe has also already played their next game, a 63-53 loss against Heritage on the 14th.
