Volleyball Recap: Columbus East Olympians vs. Floyd Central Highlanders
Columbus East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Floyd Central Highlanders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Olympians of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.
The final score came out to 25-13, 25-6, 25-14.
Floyd Central found their leader in sophomore Lillie Furmall, who had seven digs and five aces. Furmall has been hot for a while, having also posted 19 or more assists the last 11 times she's played.
Columbus East's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Floyd Central, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
Looking ahead, Columbus East is taking a road trip to face off against Bloomington South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Floyd Central, they will welcome Jeffersonville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
