Baseball Game Preview: Alta Loma Braves vs. Don Lugo Conquistadores

The Alta Loma Braves will venture away from home to challenge the Don Lugo Conquistadores at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Alta Loma will be strutting in after a win while Don Lugo will be coming in after a defeat.

Alta Loma took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Diamond Bar with a sharp 12-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Brahmas: they've now won three in a row.

Grant MacCharles was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Everett Babcock, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Don Lugo was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 12-1 to Foothill. The contest marked the Conquistadores' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Don Lugo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Burillo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Burillo's first of the season.

Alta Loma's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Don Lugo, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Alta Loma came out on top in a nail-biter against Don Lugo in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 15-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alta Loma since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
