Baseball Recap: Williamsburg's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Williamsburg came out on top against Glendale on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Blue Pirates put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 12-0 victory. The Blue Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Preston Long and Jase McCall made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Long tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, McCall tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Long has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Long went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while McCall got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases. That's the most RBI Long has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Brantner, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Clark, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The win was the third in a row for Williamsburg, bringing their record up to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Glendale, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.
