Basketball Game Preview: Dayspring Christian Academy Lions vs. Faith Christian Warriors

Dayspring Christian Academy is 1-9 against Faith Christian since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Dayspring Christian Academy Lions will look to defend their home court against the Faith Christian Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Dayspring Christian Academy turned things around against Christian Heritage Academy on Tuesday. They strolled past the Knights with points to spare, taking the game 47-32.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Faith Christian). They blew past Faith Christian Academy 61-18 on Tuesday. With the Warriors ahead 36-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Dayspring Christian Academy better focus on containing Sam Guelich and Matthew Burton as the pair were huge in Faith Christian's win. Guelich almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards, while Burton went 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points. Those nine rebounds gave Guelich a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Whitaker, who posted seven points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Faith Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Faith Christian's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points per game. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7.

Dayspring Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Faith Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, sneaking past 42-39.
