Softball Recap: Jurupa Hills Finds Home Field Redemption Against Carter

There's no place like home for Jurupa Hills, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Carter Lions 8-7 on Friday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kaylin Olguin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isabela Torres, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Sophie Gutierrez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Torres wasn't the only one making solid contact: Jurupa Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The Spartans are 7-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

Jurupa Hills' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Carter, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
