Softball Recap: Bryan Takes a Loss

After flying high against Liberty Center on Thursday, Bryan came back down to earth. The Golden Bears fell just short of the Elmwood Royals by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Golden Bears have suffered since April 3rd.

Bryan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thea Staten, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Ana McCoy-Martinez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Bryan moved to 9-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Elmwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bryan will square off against Swanton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Elmwood, they will face off against McComb at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
